If, you are a time clock puncher you have my admiration. The stability you get by working a steady job with benefits is a wonderful thing.
Many have made a good life while punching the clock. Our economy could not survive without you.
However…
If you idea of punching the time clock is more like the illustration above, then maybe we have something of interest for you to look at.
You see, I can’t be a time clock puncher. My nature just won’t allow it. So, I have always had to create my own clock to punch and maybe I can offer you the chance to be a puncher of time clocks.

I’ve learned many lessons in my life

Some of them have been easy and some of them have been hard. I am so glad for that. What a drag it might have been if all of them had been easy! I once worked for an old chicken farmer in Arkansas. He was a wise old man and I learned a lot from him. He was good about pointing out the obvious and he once told me, “Joe, never leave the hard part of a job ’til the end.” He said, “If you do that you’ll have nothing left but the hard part when you get through with the easy part.. If you work the hard part in while you do the easy part you’ll find out that when your’e done, you won’t have struggled with the hard part of the job.”
As a know-it-all 25 year old that was a profound statement and it has stayed with me through my life. In fact, sometimes I do the hard part first just to have the easy part to end up with.
One of the hardest lessons I have learned is that I am not siutable to be a time clock puncher. It has not been in my best self interest sometimes that I have not been able to accept a job and just go in and do it. I just can’t handle the office politics. Everybody has their own little fiefdom to protect and the power struggles are just too much.
So, after flopping around like a fish out of water trying to fit in, I finally realized that I had to take things into my own hands and create my own job. And with the exception of a few short episodes I have done just that over the past 40+ years. Unfortunately, I tend to take things to the extreme and spent most of that time being a singlepreneur, that is being the entire company. With the exception of about 25 years when my late wife Jo Ellen took care of the details and I went into the trenches and brought the details home to be taken care of.
I don’t recommend you do it this way. Singlepreneurs can only grow so big and that is not really big enough to be prosperous. You can have a good life, but doing it all yourself limits your ability to grow and success almost always requires growth.
I have also learned that being in charge of your own destiny can be the most rewarding challenge and that even though I have worked for the toughest boss I could ever have had it is worth it. So, these Opportunities Revolve Around Sales.

One of our Premier Programs has been the “Attention Keeper Program“. Now, you might ask, “What is an Attention Keeper’?
Well, to most folks they would be known as Place Mats.

We provide FREE Attention Keepers to locally owned restaurants. These Attention Keepers contain ads for local businesses.
We have two sizes, 11″ x 17″ or 8.5″ x 14″. We let the restaurant choose which size they prefer. The standard ad is 2″ x 3.25″ (approx. size of a business card).
We print ours in two colors, that choice would be up to you. If we do the printing and graphics for you we can also offer you full color, but keep in mind the cost is considerably higher than two or single color.
The 11″ x 17″ Attention Keeper has 25 spaces. We generally give two to the restaurant and sell the balance. We try to keep our pricing around $0.01-$0.02 per Attention Keeper. So, if we are printing 120,000 Attention Keepers the cost would be $1,200.00/yr. per ad. That would be a gross of $27.600.00.
We currently have 2 restaurants using 120,000 ea. per year and charge $1,500/yr or gross $34,500 from each. One is located in a town of approx. 2,000 people and the other is near a town of 33,000 people.
So, if you were paying us $0.15 per Attention Keeper to do the graphics, print and ship them and selling ads at $1,500/yr. ($125.00/mo.) you would basically net $16,500.00/yr. from that one restaurant. You could easily do 5 restaurants and that would net you $82,500.00 or $717.39 per ad for just 115 ads.

We can configure your package to suit your needs. We understand that printing Attention Keepers at our facility and shipping them to you or your restaurants can add to your costs which increases the cost of the ads. So, if that is an issue we can just be your consultant and/or graphics provider and create the files and send them electronically to your local printer for output. Or, you can hire us to train you and get you set to go and then you can go to a local printer and have them do the graphics and printing.

Another potential sales based opportunity is Every Door Direct Mail. This is a program offered by the post office that lets businesses mail at a much reduced cost.
There are some restrictions and rules to follow, but if you have businesses that would like to do direct mail but don’t want to pay first class postage or for
costly lists the EDDM program offers
some real opportunity.
Once again, ATD Marketing can do the printing and graphics and prepare the mailing for the post office. We would make sure all regulations are adhered to and that your mailing would go out from the Post Office delivering the chosen routes.
This is another program that I feel needs more personal attention prior to implementing. You could do the delivery to the proper post office, we can design, print, prepare for mailing and send priority mail to you for delivery to the delivering Post Office. We are very flexible, but we don’t want to go off half cocked and mess something up.

Another similar opportunity is to set up Birthday Clubs and sell psace to local businesses. We call them Sparkers.

There are a total of 13 spaces for ads (coupons), we can provide you with a list of 1,000 people in a specific area having birthdays each month.
You sell the spots on the mailer and we do the graphics, print and mail for you. All you have to do is sell the ad spaces, gather the content, e-mail it to us. We create the Sparker, prepare if for mailing and mail it for you.
We charge you a flat fee and you charge your clients a monthly fee and require they do so for one year min.
These are great for restaurants, skating rinks, almost any business but especially for those where an actual birthday event could be held.
These would mail at first rates so mailing would be $550.00 per month, the list, printing and graphics would run $450.00 and we would mail them and do all mailing prep. So, if you charge a mere $100.00/mo. your net profit would be $300.00/mo. for 12 months or $3,600.00/yr. You won’t get rich here but you sell 13 ads and you are done for a year.
You can also use it as an adjunct to the Attention Keeper Program, by adding it on. IE: “This program usually runs $175.00/mo. but if you go on the Attention Keeper you get this for just $100.00/mo.”

Many locally owned restaurants don’t have a V.I.P. Program. You can set them up with one. Again, we’ll do the behind the scenes stuff, all you have to do is sell the program. Like all of our other programs, we will never be known to your clients. They will deal with you and you will deal with us. Even if you don’t have the answer, you will call us and we’ll answer the question for you and you can then relay the answer to your client. This is a real simple program and it really works.
